Moodle and Auto-linking

Moodle has this awesome function where it automatically links to files or glossary entries within the course. It is great where there is a file uploaded for an activity and when explaining it in a label or book, Moodle will automatically link the name if you use the same name.

Where this isn’t so great is in a test using the quiz activity and you don’t want students to automatically have access to the glossary term or activity file. Up until now, I have been removing the links manually and then selecting them and using the ‘prevent ‘ option.

Until today …

I decided this method was inefficient and went Googling for an option and discovered you can turn off auto linking either course wide or activity specific. To turn it off for an activity, head to the activity settings cog and choose Filters. Here you have the ability to turn different filters on or off or leave at the default. All I had to do was choose which filters I wanted to turn off and saved my choices. Hey presto problem of links in the test quiz has now disappeared!
